General Guidelines
Our journal publishes material from both undergraduate and graduate students across the nation, including current APSU students and alumni. At this time, we only accept online submissions, and the submission deadline for the Spring 2021 journal is February 15, 2021.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but we do request that contributors include this information, if applicable, in their cover letter. If the work is accepted elsewhere, please notify us of your work’s acceptance as soon as possible.
We accept all genres, but we may limit some more specific genres (i.e. romance, science fiction, fantasy, etc.) to 1-2 pieces per publication. Your cover letter should also contain a list of the works included in your submission along with the category of your piece. We allow contributors to submit in up to two different categories. For example, we will consider two prose pieces and an audio-visual piece from one contributor, but these must be separate submissions. We also request for contributors to not include a biography until we confirm your work’s acceptance.
We do not accept previously published work.
Please email all submissions to the601lit@gmail.com.
Prose
We consider fiction, essays, flash prose, and nonfiction submissions. Contributors may submit up to two prose pieces for consideration, with submissions allowed no more than 5,000 words per piece.
Poetry
We will consider up to six poems. Please format and submit the poems as a single document.
Drama
We will consider plays that are 15 pages or less in length. Playwrights may submit up to three plays or monologues for consideration.
Visual Art
All two-dimensional work is welcome. Three-dimensional work should be photographed and submitted on slides. Make sure to include the title of each piece and the medium used. Artists may submit between six and ten visual pieces for consideration. Please email all files to the601lit@gmail.com
Mixed Media
If you have an audio-visual submission, please email all files to the601lit@gmail.com. We only accept one mixed media piece per contributor.
